UK-based Spire Payments has won approval from Global Payments Europe (GPE) to offer its entire range of POS terminals in the Czech Republic and CEE region.

The approval will provide acquirers using GPE for payment processing benefits such as range of Linux OS based POS devices and contactless payment and NFC capabilities. It will also offer reassurance of estate longevity as well as an ideal proposition for acquirers facing legacy estate replacement challenges.

Spire Payments has teamed up with its authorized service provider SoNet to deploy POS terminals in the Czech Republic and CEE region.

The company said that SoNet’s multi-acquirer application framework combinded with Spire Payments product range provides acquirers a portfolio of payment solutions.

SoNet CEO Jan Pistelak said: "In collaboration with Spire Payments we can now take this capability to an entirely new level thanks to terminal open Linux OS supporting contactless/NFC capabilities and a powerful development environment even on the latest PCI POI 4.x technology certified until 2023."
