South African Airways, Nedbank unveil new cheque card

South African Airways (SAA) and Nedbank have joined forces to introduce the new Voyager cheque card.

The new card offers air miles for every transactional swipe and is supposedly a world first.

Usually, reward programmes of airlines enable cardholders to earn air mile points based on their credit spending.

However, in case of the new proposition, users do not need to increase their credit spend for earning miles.

The companies also strengthened the SAA Voyager credit card service by offering Premium credit cardholders the chance to earn an additional 15,000 bonus miles every year on spend of at least ZAR300,000 ($21,292.3).

On adhering to spend thresholds, SAA Voyager Premium Credit cardholders can access an additional Global Companion Ticket.

They will also secure 20% discount on travel top-up insurance for SAA flights and SAA flight discounts of up to 13%.

SAA CEO Vuyani Jarana said: “We have tailored this unique offering as part of our efforts to diversify platforms through our customers are able to earn miles with ease and as frequently.

“Also, while most of our programme members prefer using their miles for flights, Voyager Miles can be exchanged for a wide variety of travel rewards, including stays at selected accommodation partners, car hire, exotic cruises, duty-free shopping, online gifting, and even health spa experiences.”
