SMiT, a Hong Kong-based security devices provider for pay TV broadcasting access, has secured PCI 5.x certification for its mobile payment terminal mPOS-SM32.

The SMiT payment terminal already secured the EMV, PBOC and QPBOC certifications.

“PCI 5.x m, the latest version of PCI, the world’s most stringent and top-level security standard certification, provides a more comprehensive and stringent evaluation of content,” SMiT said in a statement.

mPOS-SM32 is capable of reading magnetic stripe, contact IC as well as 13.56 MHz contactless cards.

It incorporates a built-in rechargeable lithium battery, which has a long standby time, alongside a feature to facilitate automatic shutdown.

The SMiT payment terminal supports various encryption algorithms. To address fraud concerns, the product also includes a unique advanced protection mechanism, anti-intrusion detection, and a self-destruct input pin.

“SMiT plans to continuously enhance the security of its products and the quality of its services through ongoing investment in research and development in order to achieve a win-win situation with our customers.”
