Mobile payment solutions provider Seamless has launched its services in Portugal.

Seamless said that its mobile wallet, SEQR, has been selected by four merchants in Portugal. The merchants include: McDonald’s, Starfoods, Science4You and the fashion group Lanidor.

SEQR enables smartphone users to pay in stores, at restaurants, parking lots and online, transfer money at no charge, connect loyalty programs, store receipts digitally and receive offers and promotions directly through one mobile app.

Seamless said that it is using SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) for the Portugal market and the users can connect SEQR directly to their bank account.

SEQR partners with cash register system provider GrupoPIE on the Portugal market and the integration is in progress.

Peter Fredell, CEO of Seamless, said: "As in Belgium, consumers will be able to connect SEQR to their bank account for debit payments, regardless of which bank they hold an account. Our recent adaption of the SEQR technology utilizing SEPA has significantly contributed to speeding up our European expansion."
