Scotiabank has rolled out the new version of its Gold American Express credit card that is said to offer the highest reward points for groceries, dining and entertainment spends.

The card comes with zero foreign transaction fees, thereby saving cardholders 2.5% on purchases made online or in foreign currencies when abroad.

The cardholders will be able to earn 5x rewards points on eligible dining, groceries, and entertainment. They can also earn 3x rewards points on eligible daily transit and select streaming services, the bank said.

Scotiabank senior vice president of credit cards and unsecured lending Brett Mooney said: “Our customers’ needs are changing, and the Scotiabank Gold American Express Card has evolved to meet those needs. Customers can now earn accelerated rewards in new categories such as food delivery, ride-sharing, and streaming services.

“We also introduced a new feature to save our customers 2.5% on all foreign currency transactions – and we’re the only major bank in Canada to offer this feature.”
