Visa has struck a deal with Wal-Mart Stores to enable acceptance of Visa credit cards in Sam’s Club locations.

Sam’s Club, operated by Wal-Mart, is a warehouse retailer providing products and services to members in 656 clubs across the US and Puerto Rico. The retailer will begin accepting Visa-branded credit cards from 1 February 2016.

At present, Sam’s Club accepts Visa debit and prepaid products at its clubs, in addition to Visa credit at its US fuel stations and online.

Samsclub.com will also support Visa Checkout, Visa’s online checkout service, later this year.

Visa senior vice president of merchant solutions Ramon Martin said: “Sam’s Club is the eighth largest retailer in the U.S. and we are thrilled to open up Visa credit acceptance in their more than 650 clubs across the U.S. and Puerto Rico.

“Whether in person or online, our goal is to ensure payments are fast, easy and secure for cardholders everywhere they wish to shop.”
