Payment fraud prevention provider Retail
Decisions (ReD) has joined forces with Japanese product forwarding
service Tenso, in a deal that is touted as a ‘major step forward’
for the country’s e-commerce.
In collaboration with its Japanese partner,
principal IT service consultant and provider NDS, ReD’s payment
fraud prevention system ReD Shield will be deployed in a bid to
screen all online sales through Tenso.com – a subsidiary of
e-commerce service the NetPrice group.
“By using the ReD Shield® platform, Tenso will
now safely be able to expand its services and safely ship its
products to over 50 countries outside of Japan which will have a
major impact on the business,” said Carl Clump, CEO of ReD.
“This is a significant step forward in
increasing international online trade whilst mitigating the fraud
risk.”
Japan’s e-commerce activity is expected to
grow from $84bn in 2009 to $149bn in 2014, according to research
and advisory firm Nomura Research. Despite this optimism,
cross-border trade has been restricted as most online retailers do
not accept credit cards from overseas due to the fraud risks. It is
hoped ReD’s technology will go some way to boosting the country’s
cross-border e-commerce trade.
