Qatar National Bank (QNB) has introduced a mobile point-of-sale (mPOS) solution, QNB mPOS, in Qatar to support merchants’ growth as a part of its commitment to bring innovative banking solutions and payment products in the banking sector.

QNB mPOS will connect and transform the merchant’s smart phone or tablet into a fully certified EMV Chip & PIN mobile payment terminal using a Bluetooth enabled secured card reader empowering merchants to accept card payments directly from their customers.

The solution powered by Swiftch, a technology developed by Mathema Technology, will enable merchants to customize the services depending on their needs and will support all types of cards.

Besides addressing micro and small merchants with card acceptance functionality, QNB mPOS, which is compatible across both iOS and Android devices, will provide big retailers with a mobile POS solution that enables integration with their complex backend systems.

Heba Al Tamimi, general manager of retail at QNB Group, said: "QNB’s mPOS solution will provide retailers such as delivery, merchants at exhibitions, VIP services, transportation, and restaurants with a new payment channel that is easy to install."
