Germany-based Postbank is testing a new mobile mobile payment service that uses Worldline’s NFC Mobile Payments (HCE) technology.
In the pilot process, Android smartphones will be used at the checkout for easy and secure contactless payments.
The innovation is aimed at allowing contactless payments to take place even when there is no internet connection, by storing certain data on a smartphone. Customers would only need an NFC-enabled smartphone with the latest Android operating system. Within the cash point, the transaction uses the existing Visa NFC infrastructure.
The Worldline solution safeguards data against fraud with multiple security mechanisms, including use of tokens, specially protected app and one-time keys in addition to reducing complexity for banks and their customers.
Operating as part of Worldline’s global Wallet solution, the mobile payments solution enables users to use their Wallet payment application for payments. The solution can also be extended to other services, such as couponing or ticketing.
The pilot project, which is based on a Visa standard, allows NFC payments to be made at any Visa payWave terminal.
