PayPal has added Pix to PayPal Complete Payments (PPCP) for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) in Brazil.

The update will allow merchants to offer Pix at checkout, aiming to support faster payment confirmation and reduce checkout friction.

According to a PayPal statement, Pix instant payment method and is used by more than 170 million people in Brazil. With the new integration, SMBs using PPCP can present Pix alongside other payment options within the same checkout experience.

PPCP launched in Brazil last year. The platform is positioned as a single integration for cards, local payment methods and business tools. With Pix added, businesses can offer a payment method that is already widely used in the domestic market while also accessing PayPal services within the same platform, the payments firm added.

PayPal Brazil general manager Brunno Saura said: “By bringing Pix into PayPal Complete Payments, we’re giving entrepreneurs a high-conversion way to get paid that combines a payment method Brazilians know with the trust, security, and global reach that PayPal is known for.”

Since its creation in 2020, Pix processed around 196 billion transactions through to September 2025, moving roughly $16trn.

In January 2026, the system recorded more than 7 billion transactions.

Last month, Banco do Brasil launched a service to enable Brazilians in Argentina pay for their purchases using Pix. The service is available to all Pix users, including those who do not bank with Banco do Brasil.

Notably, Latin America’s digital commerce market is projected to approach $944bn by 2026, with Brazil cited as a major online market.

PayPal said the Pix addition is part of a broader approach focused on local payment methods, partnerships and commerce tools for SMBs. The company is set to mark 15 years of operations in Brazil in 2026.
