Ovations Group, a South Africa-based provider of business process transformation solutions, has partnered with US-based Pay With Dropto expand beaconized mobile payments to South Africa.

The partnership aims to create a beacons mobile payments environment that will boost mobile payments adoption for both merchants and consumers.

Pay With Drop said that it has launched a beacon driven, mobile payments consumer app called Drop that allows merchants to connect real time analytics driven advertising to a purchase decision.

The app will also provide consumers the convenience to order & pay at a distance and avoid the line.

Drop CEO and co-founder, Karen Orford said: "In 2012 alone, Africans spent over $57.8 billion in mobile payments. Drop, by leveraging beacon technology combined with Ovation’s local market expertise expects to accelerate mobile payment adoption along with spending, by enabling consumers to order and pay at a distance, taking away the necessity of standing in line."

Ovations associate director and practice lead for enterprise mobility Craig Leppan said: "Our shared vision for this partnership is to put in the hands of South African business professionals the unique capabilities of beaconized payments allowing merchants to tap into the technologies and services required to build profitable businesses."
