Orange Poland has rolled out NFC Pass, a new contactless payments service for smartphones that is equipped with MasterCard PayPass technology.

The launch of new service is part of Orange Poland’s plan to enable customers to make debit card payments using their NFC phone.

NFC Pass facilitates payments to be reduced from current accounts instead of depending on pre-paid cards, which have to be topped up before making mobile payments.

The company said that it will launch the NFC Pass on Windows Phone by the end of 2014.

Orange Poland has selected mBank as its first banking partner in the country and the service is currently available to customers with an mBank current account and a compatible Android NFC phone.

Orange Poland marketing director Dariusz Boduch was quoted by NFC world saying that, "Poland is a market where contactless payments is accepted very well and already more than half of all payment terminals enable you to pay by this method."

"Extending the functionality of mobile solutions for contactless payments is therefore an obvious element of meeting the needs of our customers who expect the Orange innovative solutions to facilitate their daily activities," Boduch told the publication.
