Four employees from credit card processing companies have been indicted on various charges including money laundering and wire fraud.

US company Oracle, the major of the three companies whose employees are due to appear in court, serves 400,000 customers across 145 countries, registering a GAAP revenue of $37.2bn in 2013. Employees from Icon Payment Solutions and Axiom Merchant Services will also stand trial.

The court heard that accused Sean Mecham, Ashley Mecham, Jonathan Cannon and Jake Brisbin worked as executives and employees at the card companies.

Prosecutors claim Sean and Ashley Mecham siphoned fraud profits worth $2.9m into their accounts.

The four stand accused of forging over 200 business owners and managers’ signatures, as well as tricking customers into signing leases for credit card machines.

They are also charged with promising lower credit card fees to customers, and amending the contract terms after they had been signed.
