Qatar-based telecom firm Ooredoo has teamed up with global payment processor MoneyGram to provide mobile money transfer services in Sri Lanka.

Dubbed as Ooredoo Mobile Money, the service will enable customers to register for free and send money directly to accounts in 28 banks in Sri Lanka.

Additionally, they can also send money to more than 1,500 MoneyGram agent locations across the country, leveraging one of the best exchange rates and competitive fee in Qatar.

For global; transfers, users will have to provide beneficiary details only once, including account number, name and bank, and other details to start transferring money directly from their mobile to a country of choice.

As soon as the funds are sent to the recipient, the user will receive an eight digit MoneyGram code to be redeemed at supporting locations.

The recipient of the funds need to carry a valid photo ID card to receive the cash, while bank transfers are automatically credited to the recipients’ account.
