Recharge.com, a Dutch fintech company, has opened a new office and development hubs in Lisbon, Portugal, as it accelerates the expansion of its international operations. The new facility is located in the Alcântara area of Lisbon and will focus on the introduction of custom financial services and banking products, as well as optimising customer experience services. It will primarily be staffed with software and QA engineers and will complement Recharge.com’s additional product development operations in Amsterdam.

Günther Vogelpoel, the company’s chief executive officer, explained in a press release: “Lisbon is the perfect next destination for us as we take on the world of branded payments from not just one but two key locations in Europe. As one of the most vibrant new technology hubs in Europe, there is great match in both talent and capabilities for Recharge’s ambitions. I am looking forward to welcoming our new colleagues and making them part of our great Recharge adventure.”

The new investment follows a recent $35m (€30.6m) Series B round raised in September 2021 led by new investor SmartFin and existing investors Prime Ventures and Kreos Capital.
