NTUC, EZ-LINK collaborate to boost cashless transactions in Singapore

The Singapore National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) Social Enterprises has partnered with EZ-Link to encourage cashless transactions in the country by providing virtual, redeemable points.

EZ-Link card is used for paying fare during public transportation. Under the collaboration, people can join their EZ-Link and NTUC Link-issued Plus! Cards to earn LinkPoints upon other purchases at more than 30,000 acceptance locations in the country.

These point are redeemable for rewards or offset purchases at 140 partners on Plus! programme such as outlets3. NTUC and EZ-LINK plan to expand this reward programme onto concession cards for senior citizens.

NTUC Link CEO Sandeep Bhalla said: “NTUC Link through its Plus! programme is excited to partner with EZ-Link to give customers more value back for their daily commute.

“Further through this collaboration we will promote a cashless ecosystem for Singapore by enabling customers to get LinkPoints when using their EZ-Link card to pay for purchases.”

EZ-Link has also collaborated with NTUC FairPrice’s convenience division, Cheers, for allowing customers to top-up their EZ-Link card using change obtained during cash-based transactions.

EZ-Link CEO Nicholas Lee said: “EZ-Link has enabled Singaporeans to integrate cashless payments into their daily routines since introducing EZ-Link as a payment mode on public transport 16 years ago.

“We are continuously looking to provide greater convenience for our cardholders and we are excited to collaborate with NTUC Link on rewarding our users with every tap and with Cheers, a robust cashless ecosystem that will further strengthen the push for a cashless society.”
