MetaBank, a payment and banking solutions provider, has renewed its alliance with American Automobile Association (AAA) to bring new capabilities for its existing travel and gift card offerings available at AAA branches in the US.

Under the four-year extension, the companies will jointly work to add various features such as online transaction and loading capabilities, and personalisation to their chip-enabled, reloadable prepaid cards.

In addition, MetaBank and AAA plan to include Touch ID and remote deposit capture in the mobile app.

MetaBank executive vice-president and head of payments Sheree Thornsberry said: “Beyond security and convenience, we have learned that AAA members are highly attracted to features that can help them with budgeting, emergency travel mishaps and managing funds for dependents.

“These types of prepaid cards are accepted by millions of merchants worldwide, safer to carry than cash, offer fraud protection and are great for staying on budget.”

The company also partnered with CUROGroup to introduce a new line of credit product for underbanked consumers in the US.
