By automatically inserting name, address and card information, the mobile wallet removes the need for customers to enter their details while making online purchases.

Commenting on the announcement, Nils Hilbard, head of strategy at SEB Kort, said: "With the digital wallet from MasterCard based on their digital platform MasterPass, we will eventually be able to offer a fast, safe and global solution for shopping online, with a smartphone."

Further to its partnership with the banks, MasterCard has announced a deal with epayment processor Paynova to offer merchants the option of letting customers pay through MasterPass.

And with MasterPass set to be expanded to take QR codes, as well as in-store and NFC payments, Hilbard added, the platform offers: "A solution that in the future will also work in the physical store."
