The Big Data division of MasterCard is reportedly planning to use the company’s customer payment data to build restaurant reviews site.
The site will offer tourists ranking of popular restaurant destinations in cities across the globe, according to Finextra.
MasterCard advisors information services vice president Cristobel von Walstrom was quoted by the publication as saying that the site will run on purchasing behavior, that is, how people are voting for restaurants with their wallets.
"With petabytes of purchase behavior, we’ll be able to make a variety of recommendations, so you can eat where New Yorkers eat when they’re in Barcelona…or if you want to avoid New Yorkers when you’re in Barcelona, where they don’t eat," von Walstrom added.
