Mastercard has announced that it will expand its New York State operations by almost tripling the size of its technology hub in Manhattan.

As part of the plan, the company will relocate its current tech hub operations to a new Flatiron location at 150 Fifth Avenue, where it already employs around 250 staff.

Mastercard revealed that it will create more than 470 new jobs by 2024.

Mastercard president of operations and technology Ed McLaughlin said: “New York is an exceptional gateway for talent, innovation and collaboration. We appreciate the ongoing support from Governor Cuomo and the state as we deliver on a commitment to lead in digital.

“The activities in New York are a natural complement and expansion of our global effort to deliver the digital future today.”

The New York site is Mastercard’s fifth innovation centre besides St Louis, India, Dublin and Sydney tech hubs.
