MasterCard has signed an agreement with mobile network operator Orange, in order to accelerate delivery of m-payments services in Spain.

The partnership aims to ensure Orange customers in Spain are able to access advanced payment solutions.

Alicia Calvo, Orange Spain’s innovation director, said: "This is a decisive step for Orange in our commitment to offer to our private and business customers the most innovative mobile payment solutions using several technologies for the different scenarios of electronic payments."

Over the last two years, MasterCard has launched 25 mobile payment initiatives around the world.

Orange had more than 13.2m customers in Spain by the end of 2012.
