Renowned hotel group Marriott International has signed new multi-year agreements with JPMorgan Chase and American Express to issue co-branded credit cards associated with its loyalty programmes in the US.

The deal covers JPMorgan’s Marriott Rewards and Ritz-Carlton Rewards Visa credit cards and American Express’ Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) credit cards.

Marriott is planning to launch the new cards next year but intends to retain the existing co-branded cards for members.

Marriott International president and CEO Arne Sorenson said: “Marriott’s co-brand credit cards have been a meaningful contributor to the success of Marriott’s loyalty programmes and a sign of the extraordinary value of our portfolio of brands.

“We expect our loyalty programme members, owners and franchisees, and our shareholders will see significant incremental benefits from these new agreements.”

Late next year, the firm additionally plans to introduce a single technology platform for Marriott Rewards to synch related components of each programme, while minimising costs.
