Bitflyer, a Japan-based bitcoin exchange, has rolled out its Yen-denominated bitcoin Visa-branded prepaid card.
Dubbed Bitcoin Visa Prepaid Card, the card allows users to top up the card using Bitflyer or other bitcoin wallets and use them at any retail outlets that accept Visa cards.
The new reloadable card allows cardholders to load JPY30,000 ($266.4) in one go. It has a monthly load limit of JPY120,000 ($1,065.7) and a lifetime load limit of JPY1m ($8,882) per card.
The card, which does not charge any sign-up fee and annual fee, has a life span of five years and its balance cannot exceed JPY100,000 ($888).The balance will be displayed in Japanese Yen.
Customers are required to apply online in order to get a Bitflyer Visa prepaid card.
In September 2017, Bitflyer obtained a license from the Japan Financial Services Agency (FSA) to operate as a registered virtual currency exchange.
