Iraq’s Qi Card enables customisation with new Ekhtiyari Card

Qi Card, an electronic payment services solution in Iraq operated by International Smart Card, has enabled consumers to customise the appearance of their Mastercard with Ekhtiyari Card.

Consumers can personalise their Ekhtiyari Card upon accessing their secure portal, where they have to upload a preferred photo or select a stock photo from the Ekhtiyari photo gallery.

Then they have to follow a similar process used for securing a Qi Card.

The new card is priced at IQD25,000 ($20.95).

International Smart Card chairman and founder Bahaa Al-Hadi said: “Ekhtiyari boasts the same safety, convenience and state-of-the-art crime fighting technology as Qi Card.

“Iraqis can continue to safely receive and spend money while enjoying this new form of self-expression.”

Similar to the Qi Card, the Ekhtiyari Card will enable users to refill cards from 17,000 point-of-sale kiosks across the country, or bank branch.

Ekhtiyari Card will support both online and in-store purchases and address security concerns with features similar to Qi Card including 3D Secure.

Fund transfers can be carried out using Qi Card’s in-app money transfer service.

“Like Qi Card, Ekhtiyari Card brings high standards of ethical financial practices into the Iraqi financial system and makes banking for Iraqi Citizens’ easier, safer and more secure,” Al-Hadi added.

International Smart Card issues and acquires payment cards for 14 Iraq’s 14 affiliated banks.

It has an ecosystem of 17,000 POS and over 6,000 merchants utilising Qi to offer instant merchant funded installment as well as other commercial activities.
