Ingenico, VeriFone and Equinox offering ACI’s P2PE services to clients

ACI Worldwide has announced that global payment device vendors Ingenico, VeriFone and Equinox are offering its point-to-point encryption (P2PE) solutions to their merchant clients.

P2PE protects cardholder data whilst it is transmitted from a merchant to the acquiring bank.

Jennifer Miles, president of VeriFone Americas, said: "Consumer trust is more important now than ever before, and merchants are under increased pressure to ensure protection of their cardholder data.

"Having a comprehensive data protection strategy is key, and leveraging point to point encryption supported by advanced payment devices is critical to gaining consumer trust."

ACI, a payments provider for over 5,000 financial institutions, retailers, billers and processors around the world, said it was already supplying the solutions to various merchants and retailers, but declined to specify which companies were using the solutions.

Rob Cameron, VP and general manager of ACI Worldwide, said: "This last year in particular, we’ve seen that compromises in protecting cardholder data have not only impacted retailers’ operations, but also perceptions of their brands.
