American Express has entered into a multi-year partnership with hospitality group Hilton to issue Hilton Honors co-branded credit cards in the US, starting 1 January 2018.
American Express said that the move is intended at creating long-term value for both entities, hotel owners, guests and Hilton Honors members.
There will be no immediate charges for the existing US card members. Also, transactions made on existing co-branded credit cards will continue to earn Hilton Honors Points.
Hilton senior vice president and global head of customer engagement, loyalty and partnerships Mark Weinstein said: “Hilton continues to focus on adding new benefits for our Hilton Honors members.
“We are excited to work with American Express on new ways to enhance value for our most loyal guests.”
American Express senior vice president of co-brand partnerships Eva Reda said: “We are very happy to expand upon our five-decade relationship with Hilton to deliver exceptional experiences, services and value to our shared customers.

The latest agreement is an extension of a deal signed between the two companies to issue their co-branded card in 1995. Hilton has been accepting American Express cards since 1969. Hilton first launched co-branded cards with Citi in 2000.
