GMO Payment Gateway, a Japan-based payment service provider, has partnered with Exabytes Ecommerce Group, a shopping cart service provider in Malaysia, to offer its overseas payment service, GMO-PG Global Payment for the Exabytes shopping cart solution, EasyStore.

With this service, Japanese ecommerce operators using EasyStore in the Malaysia market can provide payment methods such as credit cards and online banking while receiving operational support in Japanese from GMO-PG Global Payment.

Under the partnership, Japanese e-commerce operators will use the GMO-PG Global Payment plug-in to accept credit card payments in local currency, online bank transfer and other common payment methods in Malaysia.

Additionally, GMO-PG Global Payment is planning to partner with shopping cart services in regions including Singapore and Thailand, to support Japanese e-commerce operators.

GMO-PG has been developing plans to expand services in Asia through its businesses including GMO-PG Global Payment and GMO Global Payment Fund, a venture capital fund for payment providers.

In February last year, GMO-PG has launched local Malaysian corporation, GMO Payment Gateway Malaysia.
