Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) has introduced a new card payment solution, dubbed Lite Pay, in Accra to reduce the high dependence on cash within the system.

The new offering integrates an EMV certified card reader and a payment app on a smartphone to accept and process payment transactions.

It will also enable merchants with the control over their receipts.

The newly launched product accepts GCB Readycash, Gh-Link, MasterCard and Visa.

GCB managing director Samuel Sarpong said: "The product is a response to challenges with cash payments to lead the change in moving towards a cash-lite economy."
