FirstMerit is offering Apple Pay for consumer, privatebank and business MasterCard debit and credit cards customers having a compatible Apple device.
The offer will enable a purchase to be made directly from a contactless payment device on an iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, Apple Watch, iPad Air 2 or iPad mini 3, thereby restricting participating retailers and in-app merchants to see any bank or account information.
Purchases will be authorised with a fingerprint scan on the device, and debit and credit card numbers will not be stored on the device.
FirstMerit will not charge any fees for the Apple Pay transactions.
FirstMerit chief marketing officer Julie Tutkovics said: "FirstMerit is excited to offer such secure convenience to our customers.
