First National Bank of Pennsylvania (FNB) has added Popmoney Instant Payments feature to its Popmoney personal payment service allowing its online banking customers with an FNB debit card to transfer money in real time.

Popmoney, a Fiserv product which has been offered by FNB since 2012, enables FNB customers to easily request money or send payments using the recipient’s email address, mobile phone number or bank account information.

The new payment service will now allow the customers to have the convenience of sending money immediately, without the need for cash or the traditional delays such as check or ACH and without the hassle and expense of a wire transfer.

According to FNB, the new instant payment option will leverage the customer’s debit card to increase the speed of the payment, therefore requiring the sender and recipient of Popmoney Instant Payments to have a debit card in the STAR or Accel network to take advantage of this service.

The new feature will also support FNB’s commitment to invest in technology to add value to customer relationships.

Electronic Delivery senior vice president Samuel Kirsch said First National Bank will continue to aggressively invest in technology to improve the delivery of products and services.
