Singapore-based card issuer EZ-Link has eliminated the convenience fee on top-ups made through its EZ-Reload service using Mastercard and Visa debit or credit cards.

EZ-Reload is designed for automatic top-up of EZ-Link card in the event of insufficient funds. The service is said to be currently used by around 400,000 people.

The company also moved application for EZ-Reload from web to its mobile app. This enables NFC-enabled Android users to activate the service instantly.

iOS phone users will be able to activate the service at general ticketing machine using an in-app ARN code.

EZ-Link CEO Nicholas Lee said: “EZ-Link is making a concerted effort to contribute to Singapore’s goals to promote e-payment adoption and reduce cash handling.

“We have taken away the convenience fee to encourage more members of the public to use EZ-Reload, in a bid to further discourage Singaporeans from using cash to top up their EZ-Link.”
