Evernote has teamed up with LinkedIn to make digitizing and archiving business cards easier and more searchable with a new card-scanning app for iOS.
Evernote said that the new app will enhance the way business cards are captured, displayed, and recalled by automatically building a content-rich note around every business card a user scans.
With full contact information, a link to their current LinkedIn profile, a photo, and a section for notes, business cards become searchable contacts in Evernote.
Starting today, existing Evernote users can connect their accounts with LinkedIn to get a complimentary year of business card scanning, usually a premium feature.
User can take a photo of the card using iPhone or iPad loaded with the app. Evernote immediately digitizes it and, through its integration with LinkedIn, creates a searchable note in the user account with the most up-to-date, relevant information about new contact.
Evernote CEO Phil Libin was quoted by Fast Company as saying, "LinkedIn is how we get the quality to be good."

The company said that the app is currently only available on iOS, and an Android version will be launched this summer.
