UAE-based telecom operator Etisalat has expanded market reach of its mobile payment solutions for parking services to Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah.
The expansion is said to be in line with company’s strategy to launch the services across UAE, in a bid to aid the government in its digital initiatives, and to meet the increasing demand for this kind of mobile parking process.
The new service will enable customers in Sharjah to send an SMS from their Etisalat mobile to 5566 to pay for their car parking. The service will also send alert texts to remind customers of parking permit expiry, enabling them to save fines.
The firm has partnered with the regional service providers to strengthen its service.
Etisalat CMO Khaled El Khouly said that the partnership with the respective service providers is in line with the company’s long-term strategy to provide the best services that support m-government initiatives and result in time, energy and financial savings for customers.
"We have seen an increase in the number of service users’ transactions by more than 50% and value of transactions by more 70% in the first quarter of 2014 in comparison with the same period last year," added Khouly.
"As an enabler of m-solutions, Etisalat is awaiting the readiness of each emirate to launch similar facilities and m-payment solutions."
