The upgrade services will allow retailers to protect their customer’s personal and financial information.

According to eMazzanti, retailers are seeking to upgrade their POS systems ahead of the 15 October 2015 deadline for the domestic US EMV point-of-sale liability shift. Missing the deadline means the liability for credit card fraud will shift to the merchant if they do not have an EMV payment system in place.

Europay, MasterCard, Visa standard, better known as EMV, acts as a global standard for the compatibility of chip cards and POS terminals designed to accept the cards and authenticate credit and debit card transactions.

US card issuers are using the EMV technology to protect their customers and to minimize their losses from fraud amid large-scale data breaches and the increase of counterfeit card fraud.
