Elavon has been chosen by Swedish mobile payments company iZettle to provide the back-end card payment processing for its small business clients across Europe.

iZettle’s choice of Elavon is due to its pan-European reach; the deal has already enabled individuals and small businesses to accept card payments through iZettle’s payment solution with their smartphone since November 2012.

Magnus Nilsson, founder and chief operating officer at iZettle said: "It is refreshing to find a company in this sector that is willing to completely adapt its processes to fit any business model.

Hannah Fitzsimons head of business developments at Elavon said: "The small business community is exciting because it will bring new customers to card payments."

iZettle has also announced a partnership with Banco Santander, following massive investment of the bank in the company.

Elavon has also a strong connection with Santander, featuring joint ventures in Mexico and also recently in Spain.

Following this agreement, Elavon will be considered the acquirer of choice of iZettle when the Swedish company will enter new markets
