The Department of Finance (DOF) in Dubai has rolled out a digital wallet, which will enable one to pay for government service fees.

The partners of DOF in the initiative are Smart Dubai and software company emaratech.

Dubbed noqodi, the wallet will support payment of non-government fees along with government fees via Dubai Pay.

The service is said to be fast and secure.

emaratech director general and board member Thani Al Zaffin said: “noqodi works with a wide network of banks and financial institutions and enjoys a wide range of features, including the provision of integrated solutions for payment collection, cashback, settlements and others.

“The wallet is certified with PCI DSS, one of the highest certificates of cybersecurity standards in the world, which ensures full protection for customers wallet data.”

In order to add credit to the noqodi account, one can use their accounts at various banks.

These banks include Mashreq Bank, Emirates NBD, Emirates Islamic Bank, Dubai Islamic Bank, Commercial Bank of Dubai and Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank.

Plans are on to add more banks to this list in the future.

DOF executive director of Central Accounts Sector Jamal Hamed Al Marri said: “The new digital wallet is characterised by enabling high-volume transactions, which could reach up to millions of dirhams.

“This prepares government entities to stop accepting cheques and bank transfers.”
