Discover Financial is set to start issuing credit cards in a contactless version, starting this month.
Majority of Discover it and Discover More users can avail the new cards this month if they require re-issuance or replacement.
New cardholders of Discover can gain access to the contactless format from next month.
Discover senior vice president of global products Andrew Hopkins said: “Our D-PAS technology will allow Discover cardmembers to use their contactless cards instantly at millions of merchants across the globe.”
To make payments with their contactless Discover cards in stores, users have to tap their cards at card readers.
At the same time, the users can receive awards on all purchases.
Discover senior vice president of marketing Szabolcs Paldy said: “Contactless technology has become increasingly popular with our cardmembers and more accepted by merchants worldwide, and we want to deliver the best shopping experience to our cardmembers.
“The goal of this digital technology is to make payments fast, easy and secure, and give cardmembers more choices in how they pay.”
