Discover Financial Services has teamed up with PayPal to enable its cardholders to use Cashback Bonus or Miles to pay for shopping at millions of online stores via PayPal.

The partnership will give Discover’s cardholders another means to redeem their reward points.

As soon the cardholders link their Discover card with PayPal account, they can start exchanging their reward points for the corresponding amount on eligible shopping at the checkout.

Discover vice president of card rewards and benefits Shannon Kors said: “We want to make it as easy as possible for our cardmembers to redeem their rewards, especially by partnering with merchants where our Discover cardmembers love to shop.

“Our customers loved seeing PayPal added to this year’s categories in the 5% Cashback programme. Now they can spend the rewards they earned with PayPal and have more choices when they pay.”

Additionally, Discover will launch a new rewards opportunity or cardholders starting in July 2020.

The programme will allow Discover it and Discover More card-members to earn 5% cashback on shopping worth up to $1,500 at PayPal and restaurants.

Recently, Discover Global Network partnered with payments network Cabal to boost its card acceptance in Argentina and globally.

Recently, Discover Global Network added TürkiyeİşBankası (İşbank) as an acquiring partner to boost acceptance of its cards in Turkey.

Last month, Windcave, which earlier traded as Payment Express, agreed to facilitate card acceptance for Discover in New Zealand.

In August, the French banking group Arkéa signed an agreement to enable merchant clients of its distribution networks to accept cards from Discover.
