The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) in collaboration with private sector lender IndusInd Bank has rolled out a new dual purpose debit card to facilitate cashless transactions across network.

Dubbed Metro Plus, the new Mastercard debit card will enable the cardholders to use it as a Delhi Metro Smart Card besides all other regular debit card transactions.

Developed by IndusInd‎ Bank, the 2-in-1 ‘Metro Plus Card’ features a Delhi Metro Transit chip as well as a secured debit card chip.

The cardholders can top-up their cards via IndusInd Bank ATMs, IndusMobile App and NetBanking, SMS, Auto Top-up for recharging the Delhi Metro Transit chip.

Additionally, the Delhi Metro travellers can also use this multipurpose card at the DMRC Parking lots, and feeder buses.

DMRC managing director Mangu Singh said: “This initiative is in line with the DMRC’s commitment towards supporting the digital drive to promote cashless transactions among the Delhi Metro commuters.

IndusInd‎ Bank executive vice president and head of savings, digital and payments business Ritesh Raj Saxena said: “With this card the customers can say good bye to standing in queues to top up their metro card.

“For the first time, with this card, DMRC commuters will have the unique facility of topping up their Metro smart card directly from their account at any of the IndusInd Bank ATMs.”
