In another significant client win
for Clear2Pay, Portuguese payment processor Sociedade Interbancaria
de Serviços’ (SIBS) is to implement the Belgian payment processing
technology specialist’s Open Payment Framework (OPF) solution as
the core technology for its Processos unit’s payment hub outsourced
services project.
The objective of Processos’ project is to offer banks a full
outsourcing service integrating SIBS’s central payment hub with a
wide range of applications at participating banks, including
domestic and international payments and Single Euro Payments Area
(SEPA) direct debit and credit transfer solutions
SIBS’ director João Luis Baptista commented: “We have a solid track
record in providing outsourced services through the management and
operation of the Portuguese ACH and our POS and ATM networks, as
well as other back-office operations outsourcing and we feel that
this is the right time to start offering full payments
processing.”
Underscoring Baptista’s comment Michel Akkermans, CEO and chairman
of Clear2Pay noted that not all banks will be willing or able to
invest in the changes that SEPA requires.
“For many this is the right moment to make a strategic change and
to outsource their clients’ payments processing to a solid and
trusted partner,” said Akkermans.
Owned jointly by 27 banks SIBS and its subsidiaries processed over
2 billion transactions, averaging a total of some €500 billion
($730 billion) per month in 2008.
