Civica UK, a subsidiary of software firm Civica Group, has acquired UK-based payment systems specialist Nationwide Retail Systems (NRS) for an undisclosed sum.
NRS supplies EPOS and cashless systems to the hospitality, retail and education sectors. The company’s Trust-e system facilitates different aspects of cashless catering, while its SmartiD central account identity management system uses various identification methods such as biometrics, smart card, and proximity tag.

The acquisition adds new technologies, including an identity management solution, to Civica’s roster.
Civica CEO Wayne Story said: “I am delighted to welcome NRS to the Civica Group. The team brings technology and expertise which increases our market presence and capability at an important time for our customers, as all organisations look to meet growing expectations through digital technology and automation and as cashless payments continue to grow in popularity.”
