Cegid has teamed up with CITCON to enable its luxury and fashion retail clients to accept payments made through Chinese QR mobile payment solutions.

The move will enable Cegid retail clients accept QR-based mobile payments from Alipay, WeChat Pay and UnionPay users.

It will use the Cegid-CITCON CPOS Connector on Cegid’s integrated store and omnichannel retail management solution Cegid Retail Y2 to enable the service.

Cegid head of retail Nathalie Echinard said: “The growth of the QR-based mobile payments points to the imperative for merchants to develop and continually refresh sound payments strategies in order to remain competitive in a market being reshaped by technology, new competition, and customer demands.”

The collaboration enables Cegid clients cater to Chinese mobile payment app users with minimum IT infrastructure modification. More than a billion customers use Chinese mobile payments.

CITCON COO and president Wei Jiang said: “Discerning consumers are looking for unparalleled service that makes them feel rewarded, recognised, and inspired no matter where they are in the world.
