BigCommerce, a US-based provider of customisable SaaS platform for online retailers, has named Barclaycard as one of its preferred payment partners in the UK.

BigCommerce powers e-commerce for 60,000 mid-size and established online sellers around.

Following the agreement, Barclaycard’s infrastructure will be integrated directly into the BigCommerce platform.

This integration will allow merchants to have their payments system ready within days instead of weeks or months, with a dedicated support team from the beginning, Barclaycard claims.

The partnership will enable merchants to accept payments through a trusted, secure and compliant expert.

It will also allow sellers to adapt to check-out preferences in new markets, particularly in Europe, the company added.

Barclaycard processes approximately 40% of card transactions in the UK and is the second-largest payment provider in the European market.

Furthermore, the partners are exploring the option of integrating Barclaycard’s fraud detection and security services.

They are also mulling to offer merchants access to products that help navigate industry-wide regulation.

Barclaycard managing director of partnerships Nicole Olbe said: “Our partnership will ensure that merchants can deliver the seamless shopping and payments experience their customers demand, safe in the knowledge they can receive support from BigCommerce and Barclaycard every step of the way.”

BigCommerce Europe general director Mark Adams said: “By partnering with Barclaycard, one of the most reputable payments companies in the world, BigCommerce is helping to ensure a more secure online transaction, giving merchants and their consumers an added level of confidence in the e-commerce process.”
