Amadeus, a provider of travel technology, has joined forces with French payment solution provider Ingenico to launch a new wireless payment solution – Amadeus Airport Pay.
The new payment solution, which accepts EMV chip card payments, can be used by multiple airlines and ground handlers and multiple banks in any airport globally.
Amadeus Airport Pay will be initially launched in June by Lufthansa Group at check-in desks and ticket offices in more than 170 airports globally.
The solution will allow airlines and ground handlers to receive EMV chip card or an EMV-compliant mobile wallet, regardless of the check-in infrastructure.
Lufthansa Group Hub Airlines head of payment Kai Schilb said: “To bring secure and seamless payment options to our passengers to ease their individual and seamless travel experience is a core objective for the Lufthansa Group.
“Amadeus Airport Pay enables our travellers to choose customized ancillary services for their flight while checking in or at the gate – securely and with a variety of payment options, and without the need for detours.”
