Aldi is set to accept credit cards at its branches in England starting next month as part of its drive to lure additional business.
A notice on the supermarket chain’s website stated: "We are now accepting credit card payments in all our stores. So there are more ways to pay for the quality and value that you’ve come to expect from Aldi.
"Aldi, in store, accepts cash, Visa Debit and credit, Maestro, Delta and Electron and MasterCard credit cards only. No cheques."
The decision to accept credit cards is the German retailer’s latest move to attract small business after expanding its range and introducing more upmarket goods.
Aldi will start accepting credit cards from 13 October 2014 in its English stores. Earlier, the retailer took cash and debit cards, which cost retailers less to process than credit cards. However, some of the branches in Scotland and Wales have accepted credit cards.
