Sybase 365, a subsidiary of mobile commerce
services Sybase, will provide Pakistan’s Allied Bank with an
m-commerce solution to offer mobile financial services to its
customers.

Allied Bank hopes Sybase365’s mobile commerce
technology (Sybase mCommerce 365) offers end-to-end services
including mobile banking, mobile payments and mobile remittances.
Allied Bank will integrate these capabilities into its products and
hopes to attract a potential customer base of 130m mobile users,
most of them from rural and unbanked areas of the country.

Zia Ijaz, group chief commercial and retail
banking group at Allied Bank said:

“With many successful mobile banking
deployments in its portfolio, we are confident that Sybase365 is
the right partner to help us develop and implement a robust mobile
banking strategy to tap into the unbanked and under-banked
population of Pakistan.”

Whit the announced partnership, Sybase365
continues its strategic expansion through emerging markets,
particularly in Pakistan, the fifth largest mobile phone market in
Asia and one of the fastest developing markets for branchless
banking in the world.

already partnered with Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited (DBBL).
