MasterCard has signed a deal with processor Venture Infotek to form Jackpot on the Spot, a new debit loyalty programme to be launched in India.
MasterCard unveils interactive debit card
MasterCard has unveiled the first dynamic and interactive payment card of its kind, complete with a display panel and touch-sensitive button that allows consumers to see their account balance, spending limit and hold a password. Turkish bank TEB, a subsidiary of BNP Paribas, will become the launching pad for the next generation debit card with a Maestro eCommerce authentication programme in July this year New features are scheduled to be added onto the card in the near future.

MasterCard launches innovation portal
MasterCard Worldwide has declared its laboratory open for business as it plans to launch an API Developer Portal allowing innovative payment application ideas to flourish MasterCard claims that third-party and independent software developers around the world will be able to create a new wave of e-commerce and mobile payment applications through the release of its Open Application Programming Interfaces (Open APIs) which will become available later this year. The portal enables developers access to the Open APIs and will provide technical documentation, software development kits (SDKs), sample source code, reference guides, and virtual sandboxes for testing new and innovative applications

The conclusion from Cards and Payments Europe 2010, the VRLCards International event recently held in Madrid, was clear simplicity is currently the concern of most customers. Prior to the financial crisis, benign economic conditions and strong credit growth saw many issuers roll out new cards products each month in an effort to appear dynamic and innovative to customers and to sell more products.
