Discover announces alliance with DinaCard

US card processor Discover announced an agreement with DinaCard, the Serbian payment network, which will allow DinaCard cardholders to use the Discover, Diners Club International and PULSE networks for international purchases and cash access outside of Serbia by the end of 2010.

Fico develops CLO starter kit for card issuers

Analytics and decision management technology provider, Fico, has developed a credit line optimisation (CLO) starter kit for card issuers, targeted at increasing profitable strategies in the face of todays highly regulated environment. Fico claims that the CLO Starter Kit, which includes the Triad Customer Manager, enables clients to take their Triad credit line increase strategies to the next level of performance, find opportunities for responsible profitable growth and control losses while making the best use of limited exposure. Decision strategies segment the card issuers portfolio using analytically derived criteria and thresholds, and assign the ideal credit increase or decrease amount to each cardholder.

Support provider to be issued with prepaid Expense Card

Staff at support provider Craegmoor will now be issued with prepaid MasterCard Expense Cards, developed by prepaid card specialist CorporatePay, in a bid to streamline cash provision to its UK services.

Global prepaid market valued at $120.2bn

The total value of the branded prepaid card opportunity in the US is expected to surpass $440 billion by 2017, nearly quadrupling its estimated value of $120.2 billion in 2009, according to research. Boston Consulting Group’s (BCG’s) Prepaid Market Sizing Report, commissioned by MasterCard, indicates that future branded prepaid growth will be driven primarily by increases in the public sector and corporate payroll segments The healthcare and general use branded prepaid segments will also continue to see steady expansion.

Amex Canada starts chip and PIN migration

American Express is to roll out chip and PIN services for Canadian merchants and cardholders through deals forged with payment processing providers Chase Paymentech, Global Payments and Moneris Solutions. American Express said that it has readied its systems in anticipation of the transition to chip and PIN technology after participating in multilateral industry efforts for the migration over the last few years. American Express has made significant investments to ensure that our Canadian network is ready for Chip technology, said Howard Grosfield, president and CEO, Amex Bank of Canada.

BofA launches mobile anti-fraud service

Bank of America customers can now obtain account information including balance, payments and transactions by SMS through a deal signed with digital specialists Oxygen8. Card holders also have access to a text message-based fraud prevention service. Customer research has shown that people want far greater choice of how and when they obtain account information, said Phil Weston, head of mobile services at BoA.
