Citi launches rewards-based credit card suite

Citi welcomed an interactive member to its rewards-based ThankYou credit card suite through a partnership with advanced payment card manufacturer, Dynamics. The Citi ThankYou Prestige 2G card is currently under a pilot phase with a selected group of its existing customers and features two buttons that allows consumers to redeem rewards points at the checkout.

Global Payments to join Brazilian payments market

Payments processing provider Global Payments has said it plans to start from scratch when it enters the Brazilian payments market this year according to reports from Brazils financial newspaper Valor Economico.

UK govt plans move to charitable e-payments

The UK government has delivered a call to action to banks and ATM providers to help facilitate charitable donations when consumers withdraw money from ATMs.Currently, charitable giving by cash is the most popular method of donation with 50% of donors opting to choose cash. A green paper on giving released by British Prime Minister David Cameron and his ToryLib-Dem government last month signals a desire to replace such cash donations with e-payments as cash donations tend to be smaller and more irregular than methods such as direct debit.

Carrefour brings prepaid to Romania

Carrefour has become the first retailer to issue its own-branded prepaid cards to Romanian consumers through a partnership forged with payment processing provider Rv Worldwide.

WorldPay acquires Cardsave

Payments provider WorldPay has bought merchant acquirer Cardsave from private equity firm Exponent and the Cardsave Management team for an undisclosed sum. Cardsave specialises in distributing credit and debit card processing services to small retailers and currently serves some 42,000 merchants in the UK. WorldPay, which was acquired from RBS by private equity investors earlier this month, announced its intention to aggressively expanding its business.

GlobalPlatform announces board of directors for fiscal year 2011

GlobalPlatform, the membership body that drives standardisation in the field of chip security, has announced its Board of Directors for fiscal year 2011, following annual elections for six of the eleven board seats. Marc Kekicheff, senior business leader of chip innovation at Visa Inc’s Technology Office has been appointed chairman, having served as GlobalPlatforms Vice-Chair for five years.
