Latin Americas virtual goods market is set to increase by more than 50% to $517m by 2012, according to research by online monetisation platform PlaySpan.The overall virtual goods market in Latin America currently stands at $336m. Brazil is the fastest-growing market for online entertainment in the region, accounting for 49 percent of the total market value or $165m. The Colombian market makes up $44m with Mexico just behind at $42m. Argentina stands at $19m and Peru brings up the rear of the top five with $15m.
McDonalds LatAm set to deploy VeriFone’s PAYware
E-payments solutions provider VeriFone will supply its PAYware merchant card payment and settlement hosted service to Latin American restaurant operator Arcos Dorados manager of the McDonalds brand in the region.PAYware Merchant will be initially be integrated with a proprietary POS system in 220 McDonalds restaurants in Argentina and Uruguay.

Fed passes amendment to CARD Act
The Federal Reserves proposed amendment to Regulation Z of the Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure Act of 2009 may have drawn many critics but it wasn’t enough as the controversial rule has been passed.The Fed claims the changes have been made to enhance protections for consumers that use credit cards and resolve areas of uncertainty so that card issuers “fully understand their compliance obligations”.
